Ben D. Moses – 1947 (Covell)
Moses came to Davis in 1922 to teach in Ag Engineering. According to UC’s In Memoriam, “he always had time to say a cheerful word, or offer encouragement to others. That he had a wide circle of friends among faculty, Experiment Station staff, students, alumni, youth, and citizens throughout the State testifies to his useful and unselfish citizenship.”
—Devoted supporter of the Boy Scouts, serving for 15 years as a Scout Master; in 1948 he was awarded the Silver Beaver medal, the highest award for Scout leaders
—Active in the Christian Science Church
—Active in the Davis Faculty Club
—Involved in Rotary International
“He was one of the founders and for 25 years served as Secretary-Director of the California Committee on Relation of Electricity to Agriculture. Because of his numerous and valuable research contributions in extending the uses of electricity to farms, the Pacific Coast Electrical Association in 1950 awarded him a distinguished service plaque.”
